In the opening stages of the 30k run, Pablo Dapena had to leave a small gap on the lead. But Pablo looked incredibly strong and held onto second to run his way to an excellent silver medal at the World Championships (5:11:21). Fellow Spanjard Javier Gomez (5:05:39) crowned himself World Champion with Kovacic claiming bronze (5:12:02).
An emotional Pablo Dapena Gonzalez looked back at his performance: "What can I say. Thank you Pontevedra for being an example for the sport. What I expierenced in this city today was absolutely amazing. The athmosphere on the course and the support out there was very special and unique. I was very emotional crossing the finish line, I never expected a crowd like this. I stopped before the finish to take it all in and enjoy it. I’ll never forget this in my life".
